This is the best one yet. I LOVE GEORGE! ;)

Merry Christmas! The over commercialization of Christmas encourages one to feel that it is one day, instead of a twelve day season of celebration, remembering and releasing the old cycle, and contemplating intentions for the new one.

Over here, we celebrated the Winter Solstice as part of the days of Christmas. In Europe, you have the Yule log. Now, it is a cake, but it signified the log burnt on solstice night to hold the light of the sun in faith that darkness would not hold and light would be born again.

After turning out all the lights, we lit a candle. This represented the light of 2007's cycle. We spoke about gratitude for things of that year, of goals set, worked for and achieved. After holding that moment, we blessed the year and blew out the candle.

We sat in a beat of darkness for a moment, and then re-lit the candle, celebrating it as the beginning of the new solar cycle. We spoke about goals and intentions for the new year.

Then, we turned on all the lights, re-lit the Christmas tee, made a cup of tea and put back the Christmas music.
